Tibidabo is part of the Collserola mountain range that lies behind Barcelona. The Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor that sits perched on top was built in the 20th century and was consecrated as a “minor basilica” in 1961. It is illuminated by night and stands out on Barcelona’s nocturnal skyline. There is also a lively amusement park with an epic rollercoaster, iconic big wheel, and plenty of rides and games for the younger kids
The views from Tibidabo are spectacular. It’s a great place for hiking and mountain biking as many well-marked trails stretch for kilometres in all directions. If you go for a wander you might come across the Tibidabo Animal Shelter for rescued cats and dogs, and see the volunteers taking the dogs for a walk.
