Festive Round-Up
There are two significant public holidays this month. Catalonia Day on the 11th, and a week later, the festivities commence to celebrate La Mercè, one of the city’s patron saints, with Buenos Aires as this year’s guest city. Culminating on the 24th and led primarily by hundreds of traditional celebrations in various locations around the city, the festival’s musical programme is dominated by the Barcelona Acció Musical (BAM) Festival, which for the first time is also running activities for children this year.
Future Music Forum
If music is more than a passion, then take a trip to the annual Future Music Forum running from the 16th to the 18th of the month to hear bands, brands, A&Rs and other music business insiders share their views about the future trends affecting music and technology at the Old Estrella Damn Brewery by day (a stunning venue near Sagrada Familia) and a full programme of night events. Tickets available from: futuremusicforum.com
Beach Bars / Chiringuitos
The September sunshine is holding out, blazing its last swansong of summer in the sky. You made it to the beach but where are the best spots to hang out? The Chiringuito Group has 3 places on adjoining, popular beaches and has an excellent reputation for providing great service. So if it’s sun, sea, hammocks, good music, cocktails, juices and general Mediterranean culture you’re looking for, then head to one of these locations and claim your little piece of paradise in Barcelona. Nova Mar Bella: El Chringuito “Natura”
This is supposed to be the ladies’ favourite beach. Like the other two, it is easy to get to by car, bus, metro, bicycle, tram or on foot. The closest metro station is Selva del Mar on the yellow line (L4).
Mar Bella: El Chiringuito “Buddha Beach”
This beach is just before and adjacent to Nova Mar Bella, heading North East, so you can access this by the same metro, L4 Selva del Mar and other public transport routes.
Bogatell: El Chriniguito “Barcelona Beach”
Close to Port Olympic, here you will find more activities for families, including a skate park close by, as well as water-sports. You can get to this beach by stepping off the metro at Bogatel on the yellow line (L4).
