Find out more »The Strypes present their new album on 4th Feb at Sala Apolo 2
This mighty rock and roll band from Cavan, Ireland formed in 2010. The Strypes are Ross Farrelly (Main voice and harmonica), Josh McClorey (Guitar and choirs), Pete O'Hanlon (Bass and harmonica) and Evan Walsh ( Battery). Explosive talent and a special energy marked the release of their first album when they were only 16 years old. The Strypes style is replete with references to the blues explosion in the 60's and the pub rock bands of the 70's like Dr. Feelgood, The Rolling Stones or The Yardbirds along with the sound of blues and rock and roll artists like Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley or Howlin 'Wolf.
Touted as the new miracle of rock & roll, their music is mature, brazen and cohesive on stage. Strings to their bow include being support act to the Arctic Monkeys in 2013 and having won over fans like Noel Gallagher, Dave Grohl, Miles Kane and Paul Weller.
The band will be presenting their third album Spitting Image after four years spinning tirelessly. In this work, the band wants to remind us that they are capable of writing good songs, beyond their adrenaline rock & roll roots. They are now already twenty years old and their sound has changed again. It is a simple sound, direct, but no less sophisticated.
- 19:00 Doors open
- 19:30 Max Meser
- 20:30 The Strypes
BIG Presents: Imagine
When we let our imaginations wander, there is no limit to what we can discover. In Improv the ideas and energy of the players mingle and build, creating a final product that surprises us all. Barcelona Improv Group will put that to the test at our first ever DOUBLE SHOW WEEKEND. On February 16th and 17th, BIG will perform The Harold, a 3 act improvised play which starts with a single word suggestion from the audience and brings forth a previously unknown world for us to discover and imagine. And just as no two audiences are alike, each show, like it's starting suggestion will be completely different.
Joining us for both nights is the incredible Neil Curran of Dublin, Ireland, who taught and performed at BIG IF 3 and 4. Treat yourself and come to both nights for only 15€ and see two completely different worlds!
Tickets: 10€, cash only, on the door, 15 euros for both nights
