In 1987, Sean started doing stand-up comedy in London clubs. He became the youngest ever winner of the prestigious Perrier Award at the Edinburgh Festival in 1990. He toured extensively selling out shows from Montreal to Melbourne before launching his successful TV career with the critically acclaimed 7 part sitcom ‘Sean’s Show’ for Channel 4, He diversified into an acclaimed writing career with collections of prose and poetry, the first, ‘Sean’s Book sold over 40,000 copies. Sean has also written two critically acclaimed novels ‘The Detainees’ and ‘It’s What He Would Have Wanted’.
Sean is however best-known to TV audiences for his long-running stint as a sardonic team captain on Never Mind the Buzzcocks the daddy of all panel shows
Despite a nine-year break from performing stand-up, he was voted No. 40 in Channel 4’s ‘World’s 100 Greatest Comedians’ poll.
From 2012 Séan’s focus has been firmly back in Stand Up and this latest visit to Barcelona will be a special ‘An Evening with Sean Hughes’ a show that will comprise material from his most recent critically acclaimed shows and his latest show. We are back in the cellar of Transforma co working that worked so well for our Best of British Show in January. It means a very intimate way to experience a true legend of Stand up who has provided the audio-visual comic soundtrack for a generation.
We fully expect to see the sold out signs go up on this one which will mark a real return to BCN comedy programming for the Giggling Guiri!
