7 October, 2016 - 16 October, 2016
Event Navigation
In a world full of preferences and opinions, there’s one thing that most people can agree on: movies are pretty great. Each one tells a completely different story from the last, and draws in its viewers with an intriguing plot, witty one-liners and spectacular effects. It’s due to the appreciation of movies that events such as the Sitges Film Festival do so well. For this year’s 49th Sitges Film Festival, the theme is one of the most recognized franchises in film and tv history: Star Trek.
Taking place between October 7th and 16th, Sitges celebrates Star Trek and its history of five TV series, animated 2D series and twelve films, a bunch of video and role games, and hundreds of novels and short stories. In addition to this, the Sitges Film Festival is also taking a look at the Soviet retrospective with a number of genre films from 1957 to 1978 produced in presently inexistent states (such as the USSR and Czechoslovakia). However, not all films are made by professionals; for the seventh year, the SGAE Nova Autoria program brings Catalan film students and their creations to the big screen.
