Sitges Carnival
10 February, 2015 @ 11:00 am - 18 February, 2015 @ 11:00 pm
Event Navigation
Be prepared for crowds as over 250,000 revellers will be taking Sitges by storm from Tuesday 10th until Wednesday 18th February. This is a small coastal town with a large party spirit, and in February it becomes the Rio of Catalunya. Its carnival celebrations are colourful, extravagant and well worth experiencing.
The biggest event will be the Parade of Debauchery on Sunday 15th February. A procession full of extravagant and colourful costumes with feathers, masks and elaborate make-up owns the streets. Themed floats pump out fat tunes through their on board sound system and the party crew give it all they’ve got; suck it up, darling. Dancers, acrobats and other performers are hot on their heels with creatively choreographed and often daring performances. If you’re ever going to fall in love with a tranny, do it here.
The Children’s Parade is a tamer version on the same day at 3pm
According to tradition, “King Carnestoltes” makes an appearance on the first Thursday of the celebrations to welcome everyone to the carnival. He absolves everyone’s sins throughout the weekend, and “dies” during the carnival’s closing party, which marks the beginning of Lent.
Sitges is just 40 minutes away from Barcelona, several trains depart from Sants every hour.
