Dutch festival crew DGTL is in town this weekend for a 2 day extravaganza at Parc Forum, featuring 50 of the electronic music scene’s most sought after artists. The line-up also includes some of Barcelona’s leading names in techno and underground electronica and work is already underway at the festival site, constructing 4 musical arenas and many other amenities including a Revolution Market, large food area, a tobacco sales facility and an interactive light tunnel by Playmodes.
The event organisers are promoting local brands, both on stage and around the site. The food programme is meat-free managed by the Kosturica Partnership, an agro-ecological farm from Canovelles, who will also be on-hand to brief event attendees on the benefits of growing their crop.
DGTL promises more than the usual festival experience and aims to educate revellers on sustainability, underpinned by its art and revolution philosophy-based projects.
Clearly these events use an immense amount of power, especially for a gathering of 30,000. So the key issue this year is to help reduce power usage by 40% through its smart power plan which will evaluate where further decreases can be made in the future. A specially trained “trash army” will be monitoring pollution and litter. The festival claims to save up to 53,000 kg/CO2 (non-bio), 14 million litres/water and 21,000 kg/forage.
The best way to find out more on the event is the festival website, where you will find a download link to new DGTL festival customizable app – it helps you plan-out your own festival schedule – also the place to buy weekend passes and one day entrances.
International guests such as Maceo Plex, Jamie Jones, Pan-Pot are among the featured talent at the event. The festival organisers are also helping promote some the local’s scene’s superstars too.
Flug, aka Sebastian Lopez, is one of those and is one of Barcelona’s most respected techno artists, with his tracks being supported by Ben Sims, Chris Liebing, Dave Clarke and Adam Beyer to name just a few. He has recently returned from playing in St Petersburg and also showcased his new album live at the Loft Club. But we wanted to know where he likes to dine.
“One of my favorite places to eat in Barcelona is definitely Teresa Carles on Carrer de Jovellanos. It is vegetarian, healthy and super tasty with affordable prices.”
Flug has recently released an album which won critical acclaim for dance music’s top names and most widely-read media – check his long-player In Safe Hiding. He performs on the Stereo Stage for the Friday session.
“Three tracks that I am playing at my summer festival gigs will include 707 Sing by Boston168, Kinesthetic Sense by Oscar Mulero and one of my tracks called Control.“
Can’t wait… See you at DGTL, Parc Forum, August 12th-13th!
