La Festa de Sant Medir will fill the streets of Gràcia next week, and is always a day of fun and festive celebrations that all the family can enjoy. The sweetest festival of all (locally called: “la festa més dolça”) is arguably one of the best Catalan traditions, especially for anyone with a sweet tooth, as thousands of sweets are thrown into the crowds by los colles (parade groups) throughout the celebration. Gràcia is a beautiful district of Barcelona and often a preference for Catalans than living in the city centre of Barcelona. However, it is even more exciting and eye-catching when the area comes alive during celebrations. The sweet and colourful, vibrancy of La Festa de Sant Medir is not to be missed, with parades, processions, horse-drawn carriages from sunrise until sunset. The day ends with a firework display. Come and join the celebrations!
