February Nightlife Top Picks

0

Ideal Clubworld

Read on for an insider’s pick and run-down of the best nightlife events on offer in February. We recommend the Barcelona Guitar Festival that kicks off on the 18th (finishing in May,) and there will be hospitality events during the Mobile World Congress (22nd-25th Feb) that are worth a look-see.
Don’t forget, the Nightlife Desk hosts a radio show on Brighton’s finest digital station – alongside more talent that streams live sets too. Check www.idealclubworldradio.com every 2nd Saturday of the month for “Comuniquem from Barcelona by Mark J” at 7pm.

Best clubs!

teatre principal barcelonaPrincipal @ Teatre Principal
Barcelona’s first theatre from1603 now hosts electronic music in Sala 2 (Sala Principal) every Friday & Saturday, with their “Yes!” nights. The room boasts one of the finest Funktion One sound systems (designed by Lee Alford). Massive international guests and local talent take you to the next level of clubbing experience.
La Rambla 27

The One @ Poble Espanyol
This is Nightlife Desk’s favourite electronic music venue in the city right now. It’s awesome… so awesome in fact that Bilbao’s infamous Sonora Club is opening up a Barcelona chapter here. Other nights to mention are the mighty Reckon crew, and the Italians from Loud & Contact who ‘own’ the Poble Espanyol complex in Off Week.
Av. Francesc i Guardià 13, Montjuïc

Harlem Jazz Club
A unique venue in the heart of the Gothic Quarter with the best jazz, blues and swing in the city and top international artists. We recommend Orquesta Illegal de Barcelona on Jan 8th and The Big Bet Swing Band with Sax Attack on Feb 26th. Club director Daniel Negro chatted with us about the venue’s history, which includes welcoming Nelson Mandela in 1988. Read the full feature online at www.barcelonaconnect.com.

Look out for…

Insert Barcelona ClubbingInsert at Razzmatazz
Insert Techno Concept unleash their third season of block rockin’ party nights. Intelligent beats and a policy of no mobiles, no go-go dancers and no VIPs, plus a stellar line-up every Sunday. 10th: Reeko & Miki Craven. 17th: Simo Lorenz & Unam Zetineb – UZB. 24th: Markus Suckut & Flug. 31st: Javi Lago & Agnosia.
C/ Pamplona 88 Bogatell

Rumba Catalana
Rumba Catalana originated in the early 1960s as a fusion of Catalan gypsy flamenco music with Cuban and Columbian rhythms. More upbeat than flamenco, it celebrates life and the struggle for social justice. Look out for Rumba concerts around town, or spend an evening at La Rumbeta, at Passatge Escudellers 7, for a taste of some of Barcelona’s most authentic beats.
